If it's for a laptop be sure to get a powered pcmcia card, i.e. one with
an external power adapter. I think scan.co.uk have one for about £14.

****Meade, DSI, USB, problem, troubleshoot, install, fix****
I am an advanced Windows user (built, installed, programmed and problem solved on PC systems for the past 10 years) and this thing was driving me crazy!!
I have spent the last day installing and uninstalling the entire AS for my DSI (Christmas present) on 3 different Windows XP computers. Two of these were laptops with USB 1.1 (one XP Home, other XP pro) and the other was a desktop with both 1.1 (on the MB) and 2.0 (add-in card). All would indicate that a USB device was attached but would never install the drivers and gave me an error that an attached USB device was not functioning properly. I have been Googling all over the place without any success.
I was getting ready to call Meade this morning to see if they could offer any help when I got an idea, could it be the USB cable? I have some similar USB cables laying around from external HDs (I use Firewire rather than the USB connection). Plugged it in and it worked first try. Thought I would post this to try and limit others' frustration. Including keywords at top so people can find this with search function.
Meade may have gone low bidder on their cable supplier.
