For anyone interested in what its like for a beginning amateur
astronomer living and working in central Tokyo, I've started a small blog of my experiences: http://www.astro.mp/ Living in the middle of Tokyo, it would seem that astronomy is something you can only experience vicariously. However, you can still see the moon on good nights when a strong wind clears the skies of smog and clouds, and there are still occasional nights of exceptional viewing when you can see several stars with the naked eye. And for anyone who gets a little frustrated with a bit of light pollution in their area, just think of me and the Tokyo night sky lit up like all the world's christmases come at once, every night of the year. Regards, Peter (btw: apparently blogs setup on the .mp domains will also detect mobile phone based browsers and adjust the content accordingly, so I'd be interested to hear of peoples experiences viewing the site with a mobile) |
