You can move the city but not the well.* Li Po
If you close down the well ............. well.

I think SFAA may have winched itself out of the well, so to speak.
Elections are next month. The necessary number of officer candidates
appeared after impassioned pleas from the current administration.
Now if we can just build a core of dedicated volunteers to replace the
outgoing and aging core of dedicated volunteers, we should have smooth
sailing for awhile.

Part of the problem is that a lot of us who were active evaporated
geographically. Bob Naeye went off to Cambridge. Jane and I ran off
to Pasadena. Bob Berta is escaping to Michigan. Even Al Stern crawled
up to Petaluma.

It's also going to be difficult not having the Morrison Planetarium there
to act as a magnet for the casual club meeting visitors, though I think it
was kind of a bad place for lectures. (Take 60 average people after the
end of a typical weekday, put them in a dark room in a reclined position,
and what happens? It doesn't matter how fascinating the program is! )

Things will be fine ...

Cheers,
Mojo
