And the rest of the anti-US feeling is probably based on the way we
invade countries on trumped-up charges; lie to our own citizens as well
as the rest of the world about everything from global warming to weapons
of mass destruction; try to use the U.N. to legitimize our aggression
when it suits us, and thumb our noses at them when they won't play our
tune; and generally act like we're the boss of the whole world,

You sound as if you would be much happier in France.

History's Worst Presidential Candidate

I'd say the current President GWB would be high on the list

We don't try to run your country. Stop trying to run ours.

The problem with your sentence is: it's false. The USA thinks she is the
world police and tries to tell the 6 billion non-US people on Earth how
they should live politically, economically and lifestyle-wise.

Only when their lifestyle includes hijacking our aircraft, murdering
their crew, and flying them into buildings.

No. Canadian lifestyle includes none of that. The canadian government
wanted to legalize pot last year. The US government told them there
would be sanctions if we did so. Marijuana is still illegal in Canada.
I can bring out more examples if you want.

I think you have been over indulging !!?

What "sanctions" would those be?

But OK, point taken. The US government does do dumb things, but the
Islamofascists certainly don't hate us because we want to keep pot
illegal.

What has this got to do with space? You've cross-posted this rubbish to
this group for no reason at all.

I don't know what to say about those who wildly blame the U.S.
for all of the worlds problems, both real and perceived. I'll only
note that Mr. Feher's claim that "The USA confiscates other
countries natural resources" is absurd. The U.S., like all other
nations, purchases resources in a competitive marketplace.
Recently, the price of most resources has been set by China,
not by the U.S.. Mr. Feher should take comfort, I suppose, in the
knowledge that the U.S. is actually growing weaker economically,
relative to the rest of the world, every day.

How many oil wells are there in Japan or France or Germany?

They don't need them, as long as they have to goods or services to trade
for the oil they need.

Using other means for getting oil, as we saw in Asia during the 1930s,
resulted in somewhat less desirable outcomes to normal trade.

Oil is a relatively small factor. Japan and Europe have trade
surpluses with the U.S.. At present, something like $1.4 billion flows
out the U.S. per *day* all told - mostly to the Far East. The U.S.
grows weaker (more dependant on foreign capital) with every outflow
dollar. The present situation simply cannot continue much longer - a
point on which most economists agree.

The situation is already weakening U.S. defense. Consider Boeing,
which is unable now to compete with Airbus and is thus a weaker defense
contractor than it once was. Consider the White House forced to buy
European helicopters, etc.

Wrong.

France - pumped 27,000 barrels of crude per day in 2002.

Germany - pumped 69,000 barrels of crude per day in 2002.

Japan - pumped 6,000 barrels of crude per day in 2002.

I'm not sure what they pumped all that crude oil out of if there are
zero oil wells amongst them, as you have stated.

Well, I hesitated to mention those, but...

himself." - George W. Bush

How succinctly he put it. i trust you won't be voting for him?
