I am considering the purchase of my first quality barlow and would
like to better understand my options.
Because most of my eyepieces are 1.25" doesn't mean that there won't
be times I might want to pop one of my growing collection of 2" eye-
pieces in for a look. Is there any loss of light or image quality
using a 1.25" eyepiece in a 2" Powermate with adapter as opposed to a
1.25" Power-mate? Are there any astrophotographical implications I
might want to consider?

No, there is no significant light loss or reduction of image quality in the 2"
Powermate over the 1.25 inch model. The only disadvantage is the increased
cost of the 2" model. Both units perform very well. Clear skies to you.
