Just the mention of "Zen" is not enough to make people laugh, at least around

When I read your post, I tried to find some connection or reason to have
mentioned Zen, there seemed to be none.
Mentioning Zen and then moving immediately to astrology and "mysticism" seemed
quite incongruous and at least suggested to me that you were suggesting that
the study of Zen was akin to astrology.
For someone who is seriously involved in the practice of Zen, it is a full time
process, not something that one does part time when one feels it is
appropriate, certainly not something to be taken lightly.
A good book to read is "Everyday Zen" by J. Beck...
