Added a Telrad this evening and out in the field had balancing the GEM. I
left the original spotter scope on the optical tube for I still want it there. But had much trouble balancing the weights. Anyone had similar problems and can it handle the extra weight with the Telrad? I dont see why it should not. Scope is a Celestron 150-HD. Did not have this problem before adding the Telrad. I could take the original spotter scope off but would like to keep it on there. What does everyone think? Can I leave it on? Thanks |

A lot of the time, adding weight from a finder also means moving the tube
assembly back to compensate, or adding other weight to different parts of the tube. It also can require moving the main counterweight a little farther out on the rod. Clear skies to you. -- David W.
