ASTRONOMERS SHOULD PROMOTE THEIR OWN CALENDAR!

For centuries, Astronomers have published scientific solar
calendars with corresponding dates from local cult calendars.
Apparently they hoped that eventually this data would eventually be
adopted popularly or by government decree.
Astrologers helped keep alive this hope by circulating their data
in commercial astrological ephemeri in the guise of a personality-game
manual.
Now astronomical observatories are broadening this popular
exposure of solar data by publishing dual calendars on Web sites in
tabular form.
That is some progress, but tabular calendars have very little
value in such promotions since people are accustomed to calendar
formats, especially those that are attractively decorated. No one but
an expert would recognize tabular solar data as useful calendars.
Help on this promotion should be extended by all astronomers,
astronomical observatories, and amateur astronomy students everywhere.
A good place to start would be the binary Usenet newsgroups. Here
proper dual solar calendars are regularly posted with appropriate
artistic decorations. Postng comments on these articles would be a
quick and easy effort for supporters of the popular global adoption of
the scientific Astronomer's Calendar.
Another more creative effort would be the graphic composition and
posting of other Astronomer's Calendars for many other binary
newsgroups, especially those of popular singers and other celebrities.
Astronomer Calendars are currently posted in the following
newsgroups. A search for the key words "calendar" will quickly reveal
their location in any newsgroup reader.

Another way for professional and amateur astronomers to support
the popular global adoption of the Astronomer's Calendar is to post
one on ther computer and several more on their walls for family,
friends, and colleagues to see and inquire about.
Also effective would be the use of dual dates in all their
publications, private correspondence, signed legal documents, and
newsgroup articles. Basic calendars for this purpose can be retrieved
from http://groups.msn.com/worldcalendar.
