Default Orion's 100 mm APO

Depends on the use. The 80 is relatively short and wide field. The 100
is longer (900 mm fl vs. 600 mm fl), accounting for a substantial size
increase. 900 mm is less suitable for wide field users. It is not just
a matter of more aperture, but 1.5x more magnification (and narrow FOV)
for any particular EP.

Plus it is heavier and longer -- therefore less portable. The ED80 and
ED100 are very different animals.

People bought the 80 mm because that's all was available at a fairly
cheap price from Orion. Now there is another choice. It is not
illogical to think to that a sizable fraction of these same people
would spring for something better.

Astromart will now be glutted with everyone trying to sell
those pint-sized 80 mms so they can buy this new one.

I don't really think so, the ED-80 is compact enough to be considered "Airline
Portable" and "Grab and Go." The new scope at F9 is a different animal...
