The Thing that gets me though is I believe there is a problem with looking
at stars. The thing shows to dang many. How can I tell what it is I am supposed to be looking at ? Ok I known stuff isn't going to look like what you see on the astro pic of the day site, but hell some parts of the sky have so many I can't tell if the thing is pointing at the right part of th sky, Hi Gerry, The first and easiest answer is to go to the moon where you can crater hop, from a known crater, following lines of craters etc, to identify unknown craters. As to recognizing the other stuff (the things astronomers have to settle for when the moon is not available), see if you can locate a copy of "Turn left at Orion." It is a very easy to follow guide to a number of objects, complete with realistic drawings of what you can expect to see. Clear Skies Chuck Taylor Do you observe the moon? Try http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lunar-observing/ And the Lunar Picture of the Day http://www.lpod.org/ ************************************ I figure it works because when I told it to point at Mars there WAS a red thing in the view, Dang I wish I'd bought this high powered baby a year ago .. right? 1K thanks in advance |
