Earlier today, I ordered one of the new Sky Publishing planispheres,
advertised in the last couple of issues of Sky and Telescope. I bought the one for 40 degrees. Does anyone else have one of these? The reason I ask is that the example depicted in the ad seems to show a minor printing error: The declination hash marks for +30 and +60 seem to be too low. For example, Izar (epsilon Bootis) has a declination of +27, yet it appears to be *north* of the hash mark for +30. A similar problem appears at +60. The hash marks for the equator and -30 seem to be pretty close. Can anyone who has a specimen confirm or deny this apparent misprint? Brian is going to go all Byron Elbows upside your head. Howee, were the batteries included? You bet. It's the special 15V job also used in the Lafayette Radio multimeter I bought in 1964. There's just enough amperage to keep the dial spinning for a full two nights of marathon observing. Speaking of which, think the Mets can hold their 6-3 lead?
