Get a life Shawn!

Am I the only troll in this world?

Hey I have a good view of a high-rise apt. complex and have been thinking

of
setting a telescope up. I assume I can get something cheap and it will be
usable, since the distance isn't that far. Will a cheap Walmart telescope
be ok? I'd like to eventually mount a camera or camcorder if it's worth
doing, but want to get an indication beforehand. Thanks.

Herb York was right.

I think the camcorder would take away from the spontaneity of your mission
and I would use a catch as catch can basis in this matter rather than a
scientist's need for eternal proof.

I would use a riflescope. I think you can get one for a 22 that is very
cheap. In the twenty eight dollar range new. They are cheap because they
don't have to be hardened against recoil. I would also commend to you a 22
rifle scope because of their small size. You could stand in a terrycloth
bathrobe and have the scope taped in one long terrycloth sleeve. Then you
could whip up your arm to "shield" your eyes from the fiery orb that is the
sun and when the coast is clear look through the scope.

I am not sure what exactly you would be looking for however. I note that you
are using the internet to deliver your message of questioning need - but are
you aware that an enormous amount of porn is there at your command on the
very same magical system? Yes, it is true!

I would also be worried about somebody seeing the riflescope and thinking
you were a sniper or terrorist and then, you know, shooting you unfairly.

I think the riflescope may, in fact, not be a good idea for this very
reason.

I apologize for taking your time....

Hmmm, I only hope you are not one of these trolls that have been mentioned
by others who apparently are not asking questions about astronomy with the
right Karma on board... I hadn't thought to inquire, taking your question on
its face as...

My God!

What gave you the idea that "distance" and "quality" are related?

Doug

Run out and get the Questar lightweight titanimum7" scope. It probably
has better optics than you will find in dept stores. Also happy
viewing.
