The access points can be or will eventually be closer together, so that a phone will use less electricity while receiving and transmitting. Roaming uses much power, but it is supposed to be more efficient with 5G. With an old battery this extra energy use is easier to notice, you probably can't help but notice it. More of the processing can take place on the network side, saving electricity on the phone side. Mobile phones are all ready energy hogs, need bigger batteries to run them. When the phone battery gets low, it can switch to the INK screen and would still run for many hours. Color screen uses lot of power. |
