CO2 expelled by volcanoes that ended the last true ice age (snowball
earth) and because there were far fewer sinks at the time the CO2 levels

plant life thrived took much of the carbon and left oxygen at high
enough levels to produce, for instance, dragon flies with two foot wing
spans...the maximum size of insects depends on the amount of oxygen in
the atmosphere....they have no lungs

without CO2 there is no free oxygen

Life, through it's contributions to the atmosphere has maintained the
temperature of the planet at relatively stable levels for ~4 billion
years even while the sun's output has increased by 40%....

For most of the last 600 million years the earths climate was much
