You mean like sci.space.policy, or sci.space.station or sci.space.history?
I don't see much point in adding yet another group when traffic is fractured
as it is.

I steer
clear of moderated groups due to the long delays and tendency for my input
to be moderated, which makes me think its a clique based group who cannot
welcome anyone not technical enough.

I will cede the delays. Though with additional moderators that can be
improved upon. In general, unless I'm travelling posts are approved within 8
hours.

As for being moderated, I will say I've had a fairly loose standard. And
given what I've seen of your posts, I think being moderated is an unlikely
issue.

A question I would ask is, are any of the automated posts of interest? i.e.
what would make you more likely to respond to them or do you simply not read
the two groups at all?



The problem with Usenet is mainly the closure of isp based news servers.
There are still free ones out there, but new people do not seem to want to
know about usenet, they prefer the clunky and awkward forums which tend to
be run by a specific group so if they die, all goes with them, unlike
usenet.

That is true.

Googles interface does not help as everyone thinks its google when its
really not. I was around when it was Deja but many were not and do not know
the history of the groups.

Another unfortunate truth.

Quite seriously, my annual bill has come for the account I use to manage
moderation of sci.space.tech and sci.space.science.

I have to decide within the next week or so whether to bother renewing it
or
simply cancelling it.

To be clear, it is NOT about the money, or even really the time I put
into
it. It's about whether it has a future.

Two of my fellow moderators seem to have dropped completely off of
Usenet,
so if I do keep on moderating, I may look for a co-moderator to share the
light burdens.

In the past few years, due almost exclusively due to the efforts of Paul
Schleck, we now have automatic news feeds and twitter feeds.
This was in theory to drive up more traffic and more discussion, but in
