Default West Wing speculation about secret military shuttle

Theres no reason Moose shouldnt work!

There's plenty of reasons, among them, we don't know if it would be stable
during hypersonic re-entry or even if the astronaut could control the
orientation enough to achieve a stable re-entry.

Granted these days that's probably far easier than it would have been in the
60s, but there's a reason things are modeled, built and tested in the real
world.

Is it possible it could be made to work? Sure? Could it have been made to
work to fit I a suit-cased sized box weighing in at 200lbs, no idea.

And even if it DID work, there's a hell of a lot of ocean out there. I'm
not sure I'd want to be bobbing for hours or even for days, hoping someone
can finally pick me up.
