Because it seems to me not something that rises to the level of a
right, not something that belongs in a list of fundamental rights.

I'd eliminate the Seventh Amendment.

The right of trial by jury is an important right. However, "twenty dollars" should be replaced by, say, "the value of an ounce of gold".

For criminal matters, a right of trial by jury is important. I'm not
convinced the Bill of Rights is really the place to deal with civil
disputes.

I'd modify the Eighth Amendment to prohibit capital punishment.

Yes, you might, but then terrorists will hold people hostage to demand other terrorists be released. This would create division in the nation, because the government cannot accede to such demands, but it would make it look heartless, especially to the relatives of the hostages.

I don't follow your logic here.

I'd eliminate the Ninth Amendment.

That is an important feature of the Constitution, since it doesn't list all the rights in the Magna Carta or common law.

Since rights are a human invention, they mean nothing unless they are
itemized.

I'd eliminate the Tenth Amendment.

That, too, is an important feature to prevent the U.S. from being a dictatorship.

Sorry, I don't believe that eliminating states changes the risk of a
dictatorship.

To the Bill of Rights, I'd add a right of privacy, a right of health
care at the public expense, a right of education at the public
expense, a right of bodily autonomy. I'd add a definition of person
that makes clear that only living, born human beings have rights.

Well, that just shows you are a left-winger.

I'm hardly that. Very moderate, I'd say.
