Axioms of Newton's emission theory of light:
1. The principle of relativity is valid. 2. The speed of light depends on the speed of the emitter. Axioms of the ether theory: 1. The principle of relativity is invalid. 2. The speed of light is independent of the speed of the emitter. Axioms of Einstein's 1905 centaur: 1. The principle of relativity is valid. 2. The speed of light is independent of the speed of the emitter. The emission theory and the ether theory are physically reasonable, although they cannot be both true.
