Default Boeing paid cronies in Congresss are at it again

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/59647.html

A senator and a former astronaut both advocate killing NASA's
involvment in supporting commercial space.

I predicted right in this NG that this would happen and that Boeing and
L-M are probably behind it. Both feel threatened by SpaceX and are now
blatantly ordeirng their paid cronies in Congress to pass legislation
that would kill them.

In case you haven't noticed, Boeing's a Commercial crew contender. And
an Apollo vet and the Chair of House Science and Technology Committee
ought to shut up just because they oppose the over-emphasis on
commercial space that the Administration is peddling? In case you
haven't noticed: that particular Congressman has a very powerful
position as a committee chair, and the Administration ought to listen
to what he has to say if they want continued commercial crew funding.
That's D.C.: "The Administration proposes, but Congress disposes."

Well, I like their plan below, full of detailed cost and timeline
estimates. Along with the very specific goal that makes
absolute sense, considering our current booming economy
and huge surpluses...

"In coming weeks we, with others committed to the HSF
program, will offer a more detailed plan to return to flight.
Not as passengers on Russian rockets, but as explorers
in U.S.-made vehicles able to blaze new trails in the
star-filled sky."

Yes sir, that's right, our space 'plan' is to blaze new trails
in a star-filled sky.

Someone pinch me please, I can't believe they expect the
Congress and public to swallow such...lunacy.

Since the space community has absolutely no investigative
journalism at all. Maybe I should spend my spare time
finding out just how much Boeing and Lockheed have
contributed to his campaign. Follow the money and see
where it goes.

And spread the word far and wide across the Internet.

Default Col. Walter Cunningham is a right wing nut!

Ya mean....Col. Walter Cunningham and
Rep Pete Olson (R-Texas)

From Texas, that's odd~

The Colonel is a right wing nut job that compares the
scientific community to the Vatican with the issue of
global warming. And says only a 'few scientists' think
the climate is warming. And he says a little warming
is a good thing any way. It seems he thinks the opinion
of his own NASA on global warming has no more merit
than the hot-air of a couple of bible-thumpers.

He's been published in the Libertarian right wing magazine
Heartland Institute. Which is one of those 501c3 political
hot-rooms for, in this case, far right wing lobbying.

Now, in trying to find who funds this little "private charity"
called Heartland Institute, you get only this....

"After much deliberation and with some regret, we
now keep confidential the identities of all our donors
for the following reasons:

"a.. People who disagree with our views have taken
to selectively disclosing names of donors who they think
are unpopular in order to avoid addressing the merits
of our positions. Listing our donors makes this unfair
and misleading tactic possible."
http://www.heartland.org/about/faqs.html#funding

Yeah! I bet it does indeed! Chriisakes....that's what's called
'straight from the ol' horses mouth'. Unbelievable!

Hey, this digging around stuff is kinda fun, never know
what's next.Truth is always stranger than fiction!

Default Rep Pete Wilson ..IS....a Boeing Crony

Rep Pete Wilson held one of his largest fund raising
parties at the home of the richest man in all of Houston.

"On June 5, 2008, Vice President Dick Cheney visited Houston
to raise money for Olson's Congressional campaign.
The event took place at the home of Houston billionaire
Dan Duncan"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Olson

Boeing's Houston division joins NASA competition
http://blog.chron.com/deepspace/2008...a-competition/

And of course we know Dick Cheney's wife used to be on
the Board of Directors at Lockheed.

So, does Rep Wilson want to kill commercial space for the good
of NASA and the country, or for the good of Boeing and/or
Lockheed?

Default Ya just can't write this stuff...

No one would believe it.

Lockheed is the third largest dollar contributor
to the campaign of Rep Pete Olson (R-Texas)
First place donor listed only as "Big Oil". (not kidding)
http://www.usnews.com/congress/olson-pete

So I suppose Space Solar Power might not be on
his radar, ya think.

Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) applauded The Boeing
Company in Houston for recently receiving a $92.3 million
NASA award for the Commercial Crew Development
(CCDev2) program."

"The contract awards, totaling $269.3 million dollars were
awarded to 4 of 22 competing organizations. The Boeing
Company in Houston received $92.3 million."

Sounds fair!

I'm telling ya, you just can't write this stuff.

Rep Pete Olsen (R-Texas) according to the article.
But wait, does he or doesn't he support commercial
space?
