From which of these people would you prefer to buy a telescope? Whom
would you trust in a business transaction of that sort? Gee, that's a difficult decision. Bill Meyers I think one would probably choose someone local to buy from. But in many cases, Valery/Aries is probably the vendor of choice simply because of the size of the optics involved. I believe that RCOS systems uses Aries Optics in at least some of their scopes. jon |

I'm sure that your Russian grammer is up to the task. Grammer?? Grammer????? Clear, Dark, Steady Skies! (And considerate neighbors!!!) I didn't say my grammar was up to the task, did I? I suppose my undergrad Russian grammar might be better, if I could remember any of it. But I do remember how hard it was to express myself in Russian (the professor also noticed, providing copious reminders) so, if someone is willing to make the effort to express himself in English for my benefit, I'm willing to make the effort to understand what he is saying. (BTW, grammar != spelling. I'm equally poor at spelling, however, so the point is moot.) |

Naw! Coma-free field of view is too small. When it comes to reflectors, Maksutovs are better by far! Roland Christen |

I want to see the 120 or 150 Synta resolve craterlets in Plato with
that there chramcore thingy... I've seen some images taken by Tom Davis that does show this kind of detail, with and without the "thingy". This "thingy" does not necessarily increase resolution - that is strictly a function of the aperture size as every amateur should know by now. All it does is to re-focus the defocused energy in the blue end of the spectrum so that the image overall is closer to that of an apo (the blue is brought to the same focus as the green and red). Without it, only the green is in critical focus, both red and blue are defocused. Roland Christen |

![]() "Theo Ker" wrote in message om... [SNIP] What's wrong about russians? They make worlds best optics. Even Zeiss ordered in Russia, and now TMB is importing those fine optics. They are even somewhat better than american optics. [SNIP] Theo, Do you have some basis for this opinion? The fact that Zeiss orders Russian optics does not prove they are superior. Perhaps Zeiss outsources to Russia because it is more cost effective. Clear skies, Alan |
