Yep. But we were talking about the Cold War and someone wiping out
all the C4I stuff.

Yep. And I didn't even mention the redundant Navy systems.

Note the use of past tense by both Derek and myself, above.

Even today, though we lack organic launch capability, we still have
high connectivity. Wiping out all US C4I without providing the NCA
oppurtunity to give launch authorization remains a tall order.
