But you require homogeneous coverage for any sort of statistical analysis, and a catalog which (like this one) is a compendium of catalogs is particularly ill-suited for that kind of work. Some surveys are done with the express purpose of obtaining sufficiently homogeneous data to attempt valid analysis.
