"A small helicopter opened a new chapter of space exploration this morning
when it lifted off the surface of Mars, marking humankind’s first powered flight on another planet. The 19-inch-tall chopper called Ingenuity kicked up rusty red dust as it hovered about 10 feet off the ground, turned slightly, and slowly touched back down. The flight lasted only about 40 seconds, but it represents one of history's most audacious engineering feats." See: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/techn...et/ar-BB1fOlIm |

There is a small patch of cloth from the 1903 Wright Flyer attached to

Now I think that Ingenuity is very cool. But building a tiny helicopter capable of flying on Mars is not a big engineering feat. Bringing the helicopter to Mars is the real challenge, but the ability to bring stuff on Mars has been demonstrated decades ago. Once again, I think that Ingenuity is very cool and give a kudos to NASA for pulling it off. But the Wright Flyer was a major milestone, Ingenuity is a really cool toy. Alain Fournier |
