Could I ask which size eyepiece was used, and whether or not it was
with a barlow?

No eyepiece or barlow, just the toucam 2 webcam mounted at the prime focus.

Ahh, forgive my ignorance! How does that size compare to when you look
through in real life? I've got a 76mm reflector and mars to my eye is
tiny.

When I looked at Saturn last year through the old Celestron Nexstar 80GTL /
10mm eyepiece, Saturn appeared maybe 3-4 times bigger with the ToUcam Pro
attached to prime focus.

The webcam image is much larger than you will see through a 26mm eyepiece.
I don't know the exact figures but try using the following simulator

http://www.multimediamadness.net/wod...k_a_camera.htm

I use 8"SCT f/10 and Meade DSI (similar size ccd to toucam)
I hope this helps.

Hi Dylan

The DSI covers a similar field of view to a 6mm eyepiece. Try using a Barlow
with the DSI to bump things up a little. Your images are pretty good with
the DSI. I've always had a little difficulty with the DSI on planets and
stuck with the LPI that was given away with the LX90.

Regards

Chris

Thanks Chris, very useful info.

I may not have explained things too well, I'm not using a DSI (although I'm
considering one) but a Toucam2. The reference to DSI was when using the
program I linked too, as I beleive it has a similar sized CCD.

The next time Saturn appears (cloudy last night) I plan on using the 2.5x
powermate.

Cheers

err... not really. The DSI pixels are significantly bigger than the Toucam
(9.5x7.5um compared with 5.6um square for theToucam)
