Default ASTRO: IC 348 & Vicinity

I saw this area in a photo I took last year with a camera lense of comet
Machholz.

I've been wanting to explore it in more detail ever since with a telescope.

Larger sizes and image details are here on my webite:

Jon,

That's deep. I don't think I've had that many minutes of clear skies in
November and December combined!

I picked it up once on a 50mm lens and High Speed Ektachrome (ASA 160
was high speed then) many many years ago. Looked with the 6" f/4 scope
and couldn't really seem anything even with UHC and OIII filters on a
rather so-so night. I never tried again. A tad too big for my setup!

Rick

Quite amazing Jon. Even the brightest part (blue in your image) is rather
faint, not to mention the surrounding area...

Saw this one on SBIG Jon. Excellent processing. It's a neat area.

Thanks, Rick. IC 348 itself is actually the small blue reflection nebula in
the middle, and would probably be an interesting target with your setup.
