No wonder I never spotted it, he has it listed outside of the Dob listing.
But I'd build me a spot out in my garden where I could wheel it out to for
my own use here and it'd be good for use up at the hidden viewing area I go
to once in a while. But dang that's a long drive and the bid so far $1,2000,
hate to say it, but a bit out of my range. Now if it hadn't been for a extra
cost this month and the high heating bill on my rent, I was tempted to try
for that 13.1 mirror set up ( Main and seconday with spiter ) someone else
had this last weekend, went for $260.00 total.

I did same the pitured of this dob, gives me a clue on how I might put
wheels on Babylon 8

Fellow Astronomers,

Now, I certainly would enjoy building an observatory around that
monster, but if I may, I need to critique it just a bit...

Why oh why do the telescope manufacturers insist on a straight-sight
finder scope? A right angle-diagonal would make life at the scope oh
so much more pleasent. I have one on my modest scope and wouldn't be
without one.

I see an outdated and heavy Telrad attached...I prefer the lilt and
friendlness Rigel.

And...

For the price, I really don't like the sono tube construction and a
rotating focuser collar would be sweet.

But...I still would like it on my roof!

The finder I would remove, have never used one, the Telrad is Super and on a
scope of that size the "little" weight of a telrad is next to nothing when
compaired to the mirror's weight. I've used telrads on my 12.5 dob in
Hawaii, my 4.25inch stargazer steve dob, my Babylon 8, and now on Galactica
( 10inch Dob ) and only the star gazer steve dob needed a bit extra wight
added to the rear. The others have never needed extra anything with the
telrad.

I have looked at that other device, and found it not to my style at all,
with the telrad when I'm up at the corner, I can look DOWN at the 45 degree
glass and see the moon/planets and bring the scope onto target without
having to bend over to look threw the telrad.

Oh ya, I forgot, the sono tube, is very good, only my 10 inch dob has a body
that's not sono tube, starting with the dob in Hawaii ( It's still there )
and then my stargazer dob and then Babylon 8, they all have sono tube bodys.
My stargazer and Babaylon 8 have taken hard useage, bangs, tip overs, and
other things and B8 many holes drilled, etc. and they have not gone downhill
at all.

Sono Tube is King.

They used to make an EQ mounted version of this with even crappier
hardware. Does anyone make an EQ mounted newt larger than 10" anymore?
