Default Return-to-Flight Hypothetical

Assume that you're a NASA or contractor engineer for
the shuttle program and that the launch date for return-
to-flight is fast approaching.

Suppose you and a few of your most trusted colleagues
find out that Level II approval has just been granted to
fly with 'unmatched pair' SRBs.

What action do you take, and how do you justify it?

Assume the launch occurs regardless of what you do.
Suppose you're assigned to JSC's Maneuver Monitor.

How to you distinguish between a "hot" SRB and both
SRBs "hot," so that you can accurately report a reason
for an early throttledown to your superior if necessary?
