When I pressed the button on my canon 10x30is bino's I said, "Wow, wow,

I still say wow at least once everytime I use them!

How do those work for astronomy? I read a somewhat negative review of
the 15x50IS model -- which was a big surprise. Is 30 mm enough for real
"wow" on DSOs?

I picked up a pair of the 10x30 Canon IS earlier this year. Under
dark skies there is a very definite "wow!" factor. It can only be
enhanced with the 15 and 18x 50's. The reason these all work so well
is that they can be successfully handheld. I've read comments stating
that because of the stability, the 10x30's are comparable to what they
show to a pair of handheld 10x50's. For any binoculars, the wow
factor is based on the stability of how they're held. I like the
Canons because they don't need to be mounted.
