On paying an official visit by Prime Minister of Republic of Kazakhstan
A.K. Akhmetov to RSC Energia


November 26, 2005. Korolev, Moscow Region.

The delegation from Republic of Kazakhstan led by Prime Minister D.K.
Akhmetov staying in the Russian Federation on a working visit called on S.P.
Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia - the leading Russian
enterprise engaged in design, manufacture, testing and implementation of
space vehicle flights.

The visit is aimed at familiarization with S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space
Corporation's activities in the field of developing automatic rocket and
space systems and implementing manned space projects, as well as looking
into a possibility of developing Russian - Kazakh cooperation in this
sphere.
The delegation was welcomed by the President, General Designer of RSC
Energia after S.P. Korolev N.N. Sevastiyanov, deputies Head of Poscosmos
N.F. Moiseyev and V.P. Remishevsky, General Director of OAO Gazkom D.N.
Sevastiyanov and others.

Prime Minister of Republic of Kazakhstan D.A. Akhmetov and his party were
shown round the shops and production areas where assembly and integrated
testing of space vehicles, orbital station modules and spacecraft are
usually conducted. They saw the mockup of Clipper reusable space vehicle,
climbed in the crew cabin of space vehicle. Also they familiarized
themselves with the activities concerned with Upper Stages DM, reflector of
12-m, space onboard antenna.
In addition, they visited Yamal satellite Control Center (OAO Gazkom) and
RSC Energia's Museum.

Then followed the meeting with the Prime Minister of Republic of Kazakhstan
and his party, at which the Corporation's President, General Designer N.N.
Sevastiyanov came up with the proposals for developing Russian - Kazakh
cooperation. The focus of the proposals was on creating modern communication
satellites, surveillance and earth observation satellites based upon
multipurpose space bus "Yamal"; accommodation of scientific equipment
onboard the Russian Laboratory Module being built under the ISS Program for
conducting by Kazakh scientists their own space investigations; implementing
manned space flights with Kazakh cosmonauts onboard, as well as their taking
part in the Clipper Project-related activities. They took a keen interest in
the proposals made and accepted them to look into a possibility of the
proposal inclusion in the state space program of the Republic of Kazahstan.

During the meeting with Russian and Kazakh journalists held in the course of
the delegation visit to RSC Energia, Prime Minister of the Republic of
Kazakhstan D.A. Akhmetov appreciated highly the Corporation activities. He
put a special emphasis on the great interest that the Kazakh side has shown
in the Corporation's proposals for a further development of space programs
in cooperation with Russia.
