On President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko's
visit to RSC Energia
20.07.2005, Korolev, Moscow Region.
This morning, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigorievich
Lukashenko has visited the Open Joint-Stock Company "Rocket and Space
Corporation "Energia" named after S.P. Korolev"- the Russian prime
enterprise for designing, manufacturing, testing of space systems and
practical implementation of their flights.
The purpose of the visit was to get familiar with the work progress on
BelKA, an optic-electronic surveillance spacecraft, being developed by RSC
Energia on the Belorussian party's order in close cooperation with the
enterprises of the republic.
President of the Republic of Belarus was met by Korolev RSC Energia
President, General Designer N.N. Sevastianov, Roskosmos Deputy Head Yu.I.
Nosenko, State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus P.P.
Borodin, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of
the Republic of Belarus M.V. Myasnikovich, Deputy Chairman of the Government
of the Moscow area V.V. Gromov, Mayor of the Science City of Korolev A.F.
Morozenko and other officials.
President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko and his attendants
visited the Monitoring and Testing Station of the Corporation where the work
is being performed on the Soyuz TMA manned spacecraft to be prepared for
next flight within the scope of the International Space Station Program and
the operating integrated simulator of the Zvezda Service Module - a ground
analog of this key station element, is to be found that was developed by RSC
Energia together with leading enterprises and organizations of the Russian
Rocket and Space Industry and has been in operation on orbit since the year
2000.
With great interest they surveyed in the Assembly and Test Center of higher
industrial cleanliness the BelKA satellite being in the phase of final
factory assembly and testing. The satellite is intended for Earth remote
sensing. At its creation one used the Corporation-developed Universal Space
Bus structure meeting high requirements of the state-of-the-art satellite
engineering and having passed a serious flight qualification as a part of
communication spacecraft Yamal-100 and Yamal-200 developed by RSC Energia on
OAO Gazcom order in the interests of OAO Gazprom, Russian and foreign users.
The Belorussian Peleng company develops and delivers for this satellite its
application-specific onboard optic-electronic surveillance equipment.
In the course of the meeting, where consideration was given to the work
progress on the BelKA satellite, President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.
Lukashenko highly appreciated the Russian party's efforts in developing the
cooperation between Russia and Belarus in the field of space exploration and
utilization, wished all people involved in the work a successful
continuation of work backed with spacecraft launch into the near-earth
orbit.
