NASA UPDATES MEDIA ABOUT SPACE SHUTTLE RETURN TO FLIGHT
Space Shuttle managers will brief reporters today about NASA's Space
Shuttle Return to Flight mission (STS-114). The news conference starts no
earlier than 5:30 p.m. EDT. It will be live on NASA TV from Kennedy Space
Center, Fla. Questions will be taken from participating NASA locations.
Managers and engineers have been developing troubleshooting plans for a
liquid hydrogen low-level fuel sensor inside the Shuttle's External Tank.
The sensor failed a routine pre-launch check during the countdown July 13,
causing NASA to postpone Discovery's first launch attempt. The next attempt
will take place no earlier than July 26.
NASA TV is carried by MPEG-2 digital signal accessed via satellite AMC-6, at
72 degrees west longitude, transponder 17C, 4040 MHz, vertical polarization.
It's available in Alaska and Hawaii in analog through Return to Flight on
AMC-7, at 137 degrees west longitude, Transponder 18, at 4060 MHz, vertical
polarization, and audio at 6.8 MHz. A Digital Video Broadcast compliant
Integrated Receiver Decoder is required for reception. Today's news
conference will be available on the Internet at:
