NASA'S VISITOR CENTER OFFERS HOLIDAY OUTING TO THE MOON AND BEYOND
Families looking for an exciting travel destination this holiday
season won't have to travel far to capture an out-of-this-world
experience. Join the NASA Glenn Research Center's Visitor Center on
Wednesday, December 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a special program
on Earth's only Moon.
Aerospace Lecturer and Geologist Mike Blair will speak on the geology
of the Moon and early efforts to explore its surface from 11:00 a.m.
to Noon. From 1 to 2 p.m. NASA engineer Jeff Woytach will discuss
NASA's plans to return to the Moon and Ohio's connection to the
Apollo program. Reservations are recommended. Call 216-433-9653 to
register for the 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. presentations.
Visitors will be able to explore the Visitor Center throughout the
holiday season. The Center offers interactive exhibits and historic
artifacts in four galleries covering 6,000 square feet. In addition
to educating people on NASA's role, mission and accomplishments, the
Visitor Center also offers glimpses of the future as NASA embarks on
The Vision for Space Exploration.
Normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday
10a.m. - 3 p.m.; and Sunday 1 - 5 p.m. The Visitor Center will be
closed on the following dates during the holidays: December 24, 25,
31 and January 1.
Admission to the Visitor Center is free and is wheelchair accessible.
A government issued photo identification of all adult visitors is
required and vehicles are subject to inspection. Access to the center
by foreign nationals is subject to restrictions. Visitors should call
216-433-2000 in advance for details.
