Expedition 9 Continues Elektron Repairs, Participates in Science Experiments
The Expedition 9 crew began the new workweek Monday with a wide range of
activities aboard the International Space Station. The crew resumed work on
the Russian Elektron oxygen generation system. Even with the Elektron
offline, the ISS has an adequate oxygen supply.
On the science front, Commander Gennady Padalka and NASA ISS Science Officer
Mike Fincke participated in a Russian biomedical experiment. They recorded
calf and body mass measurements for the experiment that is studying changes
in the human body during space travel. Fincke also performed a session with
a psychological experiment.
The two crewmembers worked on several ISS systems. Padalka checked out the
Russian segment's water system and installed new parts for an intercom
system in the Zvezda Service Module. Fincke performed routine maintenance on
a ventilation system.
