I ran across this at the local bookstore. It claims the true secret of
Project Apollo was the management, particularly the kind of management
that was created to manage the rather complex post-WW II weapons
systems.

I skimmed the first couple of chapters and it seemed fairly
interesting. Does anyone know if the book is worth the time required to
read it?

You can get a pretty good picture of the managerial techniques from
"Stages to Saturn". I believe that many of the techniques originated
with USAF projects.
