You can also read about "Failure is Not an Option" here:

In August, leading up to the debut, collectSPACE will be publishing
interviews with the director and screenwriter, EECOM Sy Liebergot, and
others related to the production and Mission Control.

Also, Gene Kranz will be on the syndicated radio/webcast The Space Show on
August 19. I know becuase they bumped me to September 2 to make room for him
:) It was an honor to be bumped for Kranz.

Slightly off topic follow-up, but why does Gene always get star billing?
I've just come across a bunch of newspaper cuttings I saved at the time
(and a diagram of the flight path I drew :-) and one headline reads "The
programmed Gospel according to flight controller Lunney". There were
several teams on shifts, and it's clear that Glynn Lunney took some
major decisions.

I always thought that Lunney was as much, if not more, responsible for
Apollo 13's safe return as Kranz. He and his team oversaw the activation
of the LM and the establishment of the procedures and acticities that got
Apollo 13 back on a course to Earth. He took over a totally devastating
situation and brought it back to a survivable situation.

I have great respect for Glynn Lunney.

( Excerpt from > )

That History Channel show was the first time I've seen images of
nuclear blasts juxtaposed with human spaceflight. Congrats to them
for taking that giant leap toward accurate history. Here's a
transcript sampling:

_______

[Gene Kranz] "We got the word that the Soviet Union launched a
satellite called Sputnik." [tense music starts]

[Narrator] Russia already has nuclear weapons. Now they have the
world's first satellite, an unstoppable machine flying directly over
the U.S. Can it spy? Take pictures? Can it drop a bomb?

[film clip of nuclear bomb drop and detonation]

Four weeks later, another Sputnik. A hostile power is advancing into
space, perhaps to control the planet.

[film clip of Yuri Gagarin suited up in training]

[Jimmy Dolittle] "(...) an aggressor that dominates space will then
dominate the world. We just can't let that happen."

[Narrator] Overnight, Russia has made space the new battlefield in
the Cold War. To compete, America creates NASA."
