Default CRIMESTOP IN EINSTEIN'S WORLD

Einsteinians readily teach that a moving light source produces exactly the same Doppler effect as a moving sound source - allegedly the wavefronts bunch up (the wavelength decreases) in front of the moving light source and this is the cause of the frequency shift measured by the observer:

"Doppler Effect In Light Waves"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4OnBYrbCjY
"The Doppler Effect: what does motion do to waves?"

"Doppler effect for moving source" is just as important as "Doppler effect for moving observer" but in the latter case Einsteinians only reluctantly consider sound waves and light waves in parallel. The reason is that the speed of the waves (relative to the observer) varies with the speed of the observer - a fact fatal for Einstein's relativity and explicitly admitted only for sound waves:

http://faculty.washington.edu/wilkes...erference..pdf
"Sound waves have speed c, and f and L are related by c=Lf. For an observer moving relative to medium with speed u, apparent propagation speed c' will be different: c'=c±u. Wavelength cannot change - it's a constant length in the medium, and same length in moving coordinate system (motion does not change lengths). Observed frequency has to change, to match apparent speed and fixed wavelength: f'=c'/L."

Yet for "Doppler effect for moving observer" Einsteinians do carry out the analogy between sound and light - they admit that "motion does not change lengths" - but always stop short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of the dangerous thought:

"...apparent propagation speed c' will be different: c'=c±u."

http://www.einstein-online.info/spotlights/doppler
"Here is an animation of the receiver moving towards the source. (...) By observing the two indicator lights, you can see for yourself that, once more, there is a blue-shift - the pulse frequency measured at the receiver is somewhat higher than the frequency with which the pulses are sent out. THIS TIME, THE DISTANCES BETWEEN SUBSEQUENT PULSES ARE NOT AFFECTED, but still there is a frequency shift..."

"Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity."

Default CRIMESTOP IN EINSTEIN'S WORLD

According to Einstein's relativity, in a gravitational field the speed of light varies in accordance with the formula:

c' = c(1 + 2φ/c^2)

where c is the speed of light in gravitation-free space and φ is the gravitational potential. The formula is obviously idiotic - it implies that, as photons fall in the gravitational field of the earth, they DECELERATE - their acceleration is negative, -2g. Needless to say, Einsteinians practice crimestop in this case - the formula is never discussed. There are exceptions but the full idiocy is not revealed - either the factor of two is omitted or the minus sign (deceleration) is implicitly replaced with a plus sign (acceleration):

"Relativity 3 - gravity and light"

http://arxiv.org/pdf/gr-qc/9909014v1.pdf
Steve Carlip: "It is well known that the deflection of light is twice that predicted by Newtonian theory; in this sense, at least, light falls with twice the acceleration of ordinary "slow" matter."

Just in case there are still doubts that, according to Einstein's relativity, light DECELERATES as it falls in a gravitational field:

http://www.mathpages.com/rr/s6-01/6-01.htm
"Specifically, Einstein wrote in 1911 that the speed of light at a place with the gravitational potential φ would be c(1+φ/c^2), where c is the nominal speed of light in the absence of gravity. In geometrical units we define c=1, so Einstein's 1911 formula can be written simply as c'=1+φ. However, this formula for the speed of light (not to mention this whole approach to gravity) turned out to be incorrect, as Einstein realized during the years leading up to 1915 and the completion of the general theory. (...) ...we have c_r =1+2φ, which corresponds to Einstein's 1911 equation, except that we have a factor of 2 instead of 1 on the potential term."

http://www.speed-light.info/speed_of_light_variable.htm
"Einstein wrote this paper in 1911 in German. (...) ...you will find in section 3 of that paper Einstein's derivation of the variable speed of light in a gravitational potential, eqn (3). The result is: c'=c0(1+φ/c^2) where φ is the gravitational potential relative to the point where the speed of light c0 is measured. Simply put: Light appears to travel slower in stronger gravitational fields (near bigger mass). (...) You can find a more sophisticated derivation later by Einstein (1955) from the full theory of general relativity in the weak field approximation. (...) Namely the 1955 approximation shows a variation in km/sec twice as much as first predicted in 1911."
