ASTRO: IC 417
IC 417 ( Sh2-234 )
Auriga Penryn, California October 2006/November 2009 FS-128 (ag, ST-4) ST-2000XM LRGB 15 minute subs - additional lum added 2009 An emission nebula in Auriga located to the east of the magnitude 4 star 24-Auriga. Note the faint tendril of gas trailing to the lower left from the main nebula. The open cluster of stars associated with the nebula have the designation of St8 (Stock). |

Yes, the Spider shooting its web tendril toward the nearby Fly. I took this one a couple years ago with my old Gen 1 filters which gave horrid halos about 24-Auriga. My processing skills weren't up to it either so stars came out harsh. Know a lot more. If not for the halo problem I'd redo the old data but probably should redo it from the start. Though a quick application of the Hasta La Vista Green filter did wonders for the halo problem which was mostly in green due to the color of the star. This one needs H-alpha data. My pure LRGB didn't work very well until I added the H-alpha. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |
