Default ASTRO: 12 Hours Helix in Ha/[OIII]/HeII

this was shot binned 2x2 over the past two evenings at the ranch under about
70% moon

The Helium II (468nm) is faint but there. five hours exposure binned 2x2
brought a blob out by the central star. that makes sense because it is a
very high ionization potential so it takes a hot central star like a white
dwarf in a PNe to light it up.

Palette (wavelength ordered) : Red - Ha, Green - [OIII], Blue - HeII

all subexposures were 2x2 binned and were 15 minutes long

it has a decidely different feel to it imaged this way

Equipment used: AP180EDT f/9 and FLI ML4022 operated at -26C

mount: AP1200GTO

Boy, that sure does change the color scheme of it! Looked at it in PS
to see the blue channel. What blue channel? After 5 hours only the
core shows and weakly at that. Interesting. Really need a hot central
star to do much in that line!

Great image Richard. The radial rays make it look a bit like travelling at
the speed of light.
