Default ASTRO: M109 clear @ 3hours

i took this last night unattended. I was really tired once I got home from
work but noted the sky was clear so I uncovered and started up the 18" at
sundown, found M109, and queued up three hours of exposure and went to bed.

this is what I had in the can this AM when I rose.

The moon was really bright and each frame had a pretty strong gradient in
it. I am pretty confident the bright sky deprived me of interesting wispy
detail etc. The seeing wasn't very good either. But I got an image anyway,
and the worst night that results in an image is better than the best night
that doesn't by my way of thinking :-)

I'm sure it would have been better without the moon but, this is pretty
darn good. As I recall m109 is not too bright. Nice work!

Thanks John

I have never taken a good image of 109 and today isn't any different

I knew that these unfiltered images are sort of a waste of time but it is
still fun to shoot images. I guess I just am hooked on the hobby.

And this year I have promised myself to shoot more galaxy images. I never
really put much effort into galaxies in the past but they are pretty cool
even though they don't typically work so well with narrowband filters.

....addicted to imaging....... yes he is!

It's a great image Richard, despite the conditions. M-109 is sure an
interesting galaxy.

Another great detailed shot. I should also try to get a good one of M109,
but there are so many other nice galaxies...
