ASTRO: IC434 Halpha full res
ic434 in Halpha : 10 X 20 min with ST2000XM bin 1X1 full res. The scope as usual is my old 8" SCT Meade on SPDX Vixen Mount with skysensor 2000PC working at F/D5 with lumicon focal reducer, guiding with 60 mm refractor and starlight SXV guider cam. it's incredible but not even one clear night, still rainy here, my last good and clear night was in 2007 ! Patrice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ That came out well. Weather seems a universal problem. I lost every new moon period from September through January. I've had to image around that moon what few somewhat clear nights I've had. The result is my to-do list has grown considerably since September as I've added three for every one I've manage to get some data on. Now with full moon we have great skies but so cold the camera is malfunctioning. It doesn't seem to like weather below -35C. Filter wheel won't turn, stars get a horizontal bloom unless taken 1x1 binning which I rarely use as it just increases exposure time without increasing resolution most nights. I have a zillion half taken images that got clouded out and I've not gotten back to. I've taken to grabbing one frame here and there for those I've managed to get enough to even try and process. Seems a world wide problem. I've been wanting to add color to my horsehead taken two years ago and I still haven't managed it. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

Hi Rick, usually we are lucky for the weather here, we are in the most favorable region of France, the rainy days are extremly rare on the french riviera. But we had rain or clouds for almost 3 weeks now. From my backyard , it will be nearly impossible to image again the ic434 region as my house wall is hiding orion very early now. i'll try hires rgb crab nebula instead. Tomorrow, sun should come back but we'll have to deal with moonlight, always something wrong... That came out well. Weather seems a universal problem.
