After a break from astronomy of almost a year, I've got back into imaging,
when the weather allows anyway. I've got a few other images to process, but
I'm finding processing the images harder than taking them. My flats seem to
be making the background mottled.
10" SCT at about f11, ST9 guided with AO7 mounted on a AP900.
The picture is an average of 20, 5 minute images, no filters. Taken on the
14 of December.

Regards

Azz

Excellent Azz! A "preculiar" spiral galaxy with NGC 2536(mag14.8p). Nice
work.

Welcome back.

I was wondering if you were under eternal clouds. Not hard from my
experience the only two times I was in England. Don't recall ever
seeing the sun let alone a star.

That's a little guy. My winter seeing is rarely up to something that size.

nice image too!

that's not an easy quarry nor is the system that easy to use either!

Thanks John. I picked it as it had a bright star so I could use the AO unit.

Thanks Rick. I've been checking out images on here as often as possible.
Your not far off with eternal clouds, since I bought the new mount at the
end of October, I've had about 6 nights, the first two nights were spent
setting up the mount. The first night was a wash out really as there was
only small gaps in the clouds, so it was taking several tens of minutes to
see the star after adjusting the polar alignment. Sounds about right for the
UK, it does amaze me how many people are interested in the hobby with the
typical weather we get here and it seems to be getting worse each year.
I wouldn't say my setup or conditions are really suited to these sorts
of targets, but I'll give them a go.

Azz

Thanks Richard. I picked it as there was a bright guide star, so I could
'play' with the AO unit. I bought it second hand about 2 years ago, couldn't
seem to get it to guide well, actually getting better results without it. I
also had occasional images with an offset image in the one frame. As if it
had tracked in one position decided to move then track in the new position.
So I removed it and it had been gathering dust since then. I decided to give
it another try and so far, I'm very pleased with the results. I'm still
playing with the parameters.

Azz

Very nice image Azz. I imaged this one in 2002, but need to reshoot it at a
larger scale. It is a good target for the "early" part of the spring sky.
