There is worse astronomical problem with Islam.
During the month of Ramadan http://www.ramadan-cards.com/facts.html a
Muslim must not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset.
http://www.thewaytotruth.org/pillars/sawm.html

They are in deep trouble if living, during Ramadan, at the south or north
poles during the local summer, with months of continuous daylight.

If you torture a text enough, you can make it say anything.

Meaning Allah is governed by the nature of this reality and is therefore a
space alien.

Ramadan is only a problem in the Antarctic, because it is always around
November/December. In the Arctic they can eat whenever they like.

Charles,
Ramadan is based on the lunar calendar, it does not always fall around
November/December. This past year it fell during October. Next year it
will be during September. I'm not a muslim (thank goodness because I love
to eat) but I was in Egypt this year during Ramadan and they do get grouchy
towards the end of the day. And they are dreading next year because the
daily fast will even be longer.

Actually it will start around the 5th of October. It advances by about
10 days every year.

Go Patriots! (Sorry! :-)

You need to think rather more deeply about that.

Ramadan is a lunar month, defined in a manner which varies a little from
time to time and place to place, by the visibility of the New Moon
before sunset. That leads to two problems with determining Ramadan :
what if the Sun does not set, and what if the Moon does not rise?

That reminds me of our earlier discussion here on the possible
circumpolarity of the Moon from the UK in 2006 - there is related
material in the monthly Times article by Michael Hendrie, Jan 27 p.74.
I now believe that the northernmost UK land is about half a degree too
far South, or would need a tower perhaps 550 m high. Or are any
Scottish kite-flying astro-photographers present?

How comes the translations of the verses on that page differ from those in
the links next to them?

And the bit about ice in comets quotes a verse that is clearly talking about
rain!!

And the verse referred to in the paragraph about tectonic plates has nothing
to do with tectonics plates! The verse is reffering to the Last day!

Sorry, but some of those verses are misinterpreted and are entirely out of
context!
