Hi Nightbat Thank you for your understanding, and saying nice things
about me and the late Big Moe. Why do some of my flamers feel I don't
study books on science Why do they feel they are so much more
knowledgable than me. True I don't know how many moons Jupiter has,but I
know its a lot. Well anyway as I'm typing I got a thought for
my "iffy" post. Nightbat I hope Indiana did not get the cold wave. Its
72 here in Florida. Bert

Replying to a public net astronomy group forum post reply,
Dave Barlow showed his misconceptions and undergrad thinking again and
uttered:

There you go again, equating formal tinking and misconceptions.

Well if you agree Bert is not guilty of wild circular logic it
follows, he, and as an American, is most certainly even more so entitled
to all his, so called by you, wild random thoughts, no matter how wild.

Whether you are allowed to make a statement or not is not the issue.
Knowing what you are talking about is.

To remind you, you said in reply to Ceebee on the centre of the
Universe.

Must be something to do with the BB postulate instead of lots of
Herb's rightly deduced and observed mini ones.

So you are saying that Herb (Herbert C. Glazier or Bert) has more of a
clue than thousands of trained specialists. I'll let others draw there
own conclusions on who is more right.

Bert on the other hand has posted his love for reading
at the library on all types of science subjects beyond his former school
days. Imagination is more important then knowledge: Einstein. And
love of knowledge, wherever he finds it, is Bert's brightest
inspiration.

And like you are doing here scorn is poured over those of us who also
have a love of knowledge but have actually had the chance to learn
from those more knowledgeable.

Does that make you feel inferior or disadvantaged or something. You
obviously have a problem with it.

Try opening your displayed undergrad mind to new possibilities, you just might get a clue.

Dave
I've always found the assertion that education leads to a closed mind

There you go with assuming and implying again, try thinking
outside the box no matter what your education level.

The original implication was quite obvious from you. Why do you think
you can insult some one and not expect a response. As you say,
freedom of speech and all that.

Funny that you make the assumption I am closed minded by having a
formal education yet you have never met me. Now that really is closed
minded.

" Species " ha, ha,
don't let Bert hear you say that for he was pretty fond of his cockroach
which he felt was pretty smart and which I reluctantly can't say the
same about you.

Funny, that might be implied as an insult. Do you mind me implying
that, do you. Good, now FOAD.

Big snip of utter drivel

Don't tell me, like our resident alien
Darla, you're terrified of Bert's " What If " posts too?

Afraid of what exactly? A bunch of people without a clue and
impervious to being given a clue.

If you and Bert where so in love of knowledge you would do well to
listen to the likes of J. Scott Miller and not deride him for being up
on those darn books.

Given that this is an astro group I would have thought those actually
trained in Astronomy would be listened to and not derided. No
implication of ivory towers or reverence implied here. If you want a
car fixed to you ask a mechanic or a newsagent? If you have a question
on Astronomy who do you ask? An Astronomer or Mechanic.

As you obviously have a problem with me don't expect any further
responses except, you are wrong.

Nightbat asks,

...ever wonder the reason Einstein spent
his whole life looking for the unification
of the four known forces, UFT, with null
result?

Could it be that his null result on unification was tied to his premise
of functionally void space and his uncompromising weddedness thereto?
Hmm..
On the question of the 'center of the universe' one needs
to define "universe". Do you mean: 1. the sphere of our visible cosmos,
of which *we* are obviously the center (a kind of latter day
geocentrism), or 2. the totality of whatever may lie outside the horizon
of our visible cosmos. oc

Here ya go, Bert...

The count is up to 61 as of last October. And this is a list
of all 61 moons of Jupiter along with various interesting
parameters.

Hi Panius Nice poem. Well I do more than dream. With Viagra I get my
ember to fire. So Jupiter has 61 moons. I think it has
four, and all the rest are asteroids, same as my thinking tells me Mars
has no moons but two asteroids in orbit. Painius this gives me today's
"iffy" post. In reality I call my ember "PeeAir I know the
rest of the world goes with Jock PeeAir has a nice French
ring to it Bert

Is there a center of the universe?
Of course.
How far can one go into the universe?
Half way.
Because then one would be going out.

P.S.
Should I copyright this? G

I'm not saying you don't study books on science. I'm not saying I am
more knowledgeable than anyone, except in some areas of Astrophysics
I've studied in detail. Even then there are many who know than me. As
the old saying goes, the more I learn the more I realise I don't know.

Nightbat decided to use you as an expert to disprove the conventional
ideas in Cosmology. Plus, in the past when you have been corrected you
have got a bit uppity about it using a similar argument to that of
Nightbats. To whit, formal education leads to close mindedness. At
least IMO you have. Nuff said.

Dave B I like criticism. The people who critisize by calling names that
are not flattering just show their ignorance. I'm not so naive that I
don't know why some people have to act nasty. My New Year resolution is
not to let them **** me off. People in this news group, and my emailers
know who these nasty people are,and try to show these nasty people that
I do them no harm. I don't write science books,so they don't have to
burn them. They can just "plunk"(that means not read my posts.) I could
not plunk anyone. Bert PS DaveB Got an email I should print a book
on my "what If" posts (go figure) I need a partner that can type, and
spell good. Anyone interested?

There is a centre of the universe: to all practical ends, you are it.

Dave B If the universe is infinite in size it could not have a center.
If the universe is finite in size it can't have a center. The surface of
the Earth is finite in size, but show me a point on its surface that
indecates its center???? Bert
