Ann: LunarPhase Pro V2.23 Released
LunarPhase Pro V2.23 has been released and contains two new additions:
* The Lunar Atlas screen now shows the Moon in the correct orientation as seen in the sky (parallactic angle) - emulated views through telescopes/eyepices will now more accurately show what you can expect to see for real * Terminator features alone can be labelled on the maps without the clutter of other on-map labels. The demonstration version has been updated to show the new V2.23 features. Some notes on it: * Some screens have been partially disabled but some settings on those screens can be changed so users can get an idea of how the screens work. * Some functions have been disabled (e.g. printing) * The date in the demo is fixed at April 3, 2005 and cannot be changed (but the time can). * Screens that display ephemeris type information will only show data between January and June 2005 * The resolution of the maps on the atlas (Lunar Explorer) screen are low-res only and cannot be changed * Only a representative sample of features from the database are included, but these will let users try out the feature labelling and feature identification functions * A selection of eyepiece and telescope combinations are provided to try out the emulation of the view of the Moon through those combinations (new combinations cannot be addded) * Aside from that, users can play around with the software to see what it's capable of. * The full manual is included in the download The Demo version [8.5Mb] can be download from: http://lunarphasepro.nightskyo=ADbse...o=AD_Setup.EXE Various screenshots can be seen at http://www.lunarphasepro.com Gary Nugent=20 http://www.lunarphasepro.com |

My opinion: Forget it.
Virtual Moon Atlas, will do exactly the same, and it is freeware http://astrosurf.com/avl/ (PC) Or Amoon.lha, a Moon ATLAS that works on Amiga OS or WinUAE. http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/amine.../sci/amoon.lha |

Actually VMA won't do exactly the same! VMA's an atlas (and a very good
one). LunarPhase Pro's an observation planning tool - a different animal that happens to feature an atlas. Did you even take a look at the demo version (http://www.lunarphasepro.com/DemoDownload.html) before passing comment? Rgds, Gary Nugent |
