It seemed like a nice comprehensive link. I find it interesting what the military is up to in space these days. The military has individual systems that cost almost as much as Nasa's yearly budget. I think our space plans for the future are being driven mostly by military needs. Hell, the military space recent cost overruns would pay a year of Nasa's budget. Space Radar, a $20 billion-plus satellite program to track moving targets from space, and the $19 billion Transformational Communications Systems (TSAT), were among big-ticket programs that faced cutbacks, said Col. Estimated costs for NPOESS have ballooned from almost $6 billion at the program's start to more than $11 billion, according to GAO." http://www.aviationnow.com/avnow/new...s/MIL11216.xml the Secretary of Defense directed implementation of several actions in response to the Commission to Assess United States National Security Space Management and Organization, known as the "Space Commission." http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/...cong/space.pdf |
