The shuttle uses the APAS docking system while the Soyuz using probe &
drogue. Soyuz can be retrofitted on the ground but not in flight. There was
one Soyuz flight (TM-16) that used APAS. A Soyuz so equipped cannot easily
dock to ISS since none of the ISS APAS ports are equipped with Kurs.
