If S8 is a compound, not an element, what is its chemical composition?

S_8 is the most usual allotrope of elemental sulphur (No. 16 -- the
official IUPAC spelling is the American "sulfur"), yellow in colour, as
in the common household/garden product "flowers of sulphur". The
molecule is a coronate (zig-zaggy) ring of eight sulphur atoms, and
typically makes orthorhombic crystals.

Conditions on Venus seem rather unsuitable for S_8 to persist. It melts
at only 115°C (boiling at 445°C) under terrestrial conditions, and in
the molten state the rings tend to open, forming polymeric S_n chains. I
don't know exactly what effects the great atmospheric pressures would
have on its behaviour, though. The melting point would be somewhat
higher, because the liquid is 5-10% less dense than the solid, but I
doubt it would become high enough for the substance to remain solid.
FWIW sulphur's triple point is at over twice the pressure, and nearly
twice the temperature, of Venus's surface.

Brad's claim is that there's a band of S8 some tens of kms above the
Venusian surface. It is vaguely possible these are similar to ice
crystals, and there is a mention of haze in

Truly weird stuff, though, either way...and probably not all that
healthy for those of us spawned from terra firma. :-)

You've messed this one up, with having crossposted into your Third
Reich cesspools of "alt.fan.art-bell, alt.usenet.kooks", so I'll
repost to the original set of groups.

Venus is nothing but weird and/or strange on steroids. It's a fairly
newish planet because it's still so freaking hot on the inside.
Everything about Venus and of its robust atmosphere is essentially
proto-Earth worthy.

Most of everything we've been told about Venus is simply dead wrong.
Other than all of that, we should go there, and at least **** on a hot
rock. I'll even supply the ice cold beer.

If Venus is to much for any Ovglove jumpsuit, then a POOF city at VL2
seems the next best thing. From VL2 all sorts of fully robotic and
capably remote flown explorations are quite doable, and from VL2 we
could even nuke those existing locals or whatever visiting ETs with
another nifty shock and awe round of our diplomatic policy, that which
supposedly worked out so nicely on Iraq.

R1024 merely delays the inevitable by 1024 times, if you don't have a
cooling system.

R1024/m also means; of what energy is taken for heat exchanging isn't
going to demand all that much, whereas having to get rid of a spare kw/
soul that's onboard might also cover the little thermal budget on
behalf of something extra, as based upon whatever's getting through
that R1024/m from the outside, and should thereby more than do the
trick.

BTW; CO2 makes for a terrific freon replacement, and therefore
thermal energy extraction isn't going to be a problem unless you're
from that faith-based dumbfounded planet of naysayism (aka Earth).

A relatively small reactor of 15 kw for a crew and passenger manifest
of 13 might accomplish this mission. Having an extra amount of energy
for main propulsion could be suggesting that we incorporate a pair of
15 kw reactors for good measure, unless an energy derived basis of
h2o2/c12h26 or whatever's best can be otherwise be accommodated.

Try to remember, that by having 65 kg/m3 of buoyancy, and of merely
90.5% gravity, is what represents that the given size and mass of this
composite rigid airship isn't hardly limited. Obviously at the
altitude of 25 km the buoyancy is considerably less, but still
impressive enough that packing along a spare reactor and/or the
necessary liquid fuel isn't all that insurmountable. Packing enough
inert mass could actually mean having to extensively flood portions of
the airship flotation cells with the toasty S8/CO2 atmosphere, as
otherwise you'd never get this sucker anywhere near enough without
taking energy for having to pull yourself down towards the surface.

What Venusian ET buttons?

The same as those Muslim WMD buttons, except this time you folks don't
even have to take my word on it, because we've got that more than a
good enough image of what's there as ET worthy to behold. Obviously
you silly naysay folks have no such observationology expertise,
although of many other faith-based souls or of just us common everyday
heathens and infidels do.

Why don't you select upon something you like, and then contribute in a
fully positive/constructive way?

Pick anything from that brief list of your's, that you're obviously
such an all-knowing wizard about. If need be, I'll update and post my
old list of 100+ worthy things about accomplishing VL2 and of
accomplishing Venus, that sooner or later will need to get resolved.

So OK then. Make it a business plan and/or research grant.

That's roughly the same as asking myself to become president, just so
that I could kick a few of those butts I'd been talking about.

Since you're so all knowing and without a stitch of remorse, perhaps
you folks could put in a good word here or there. Even a few good
Jewish words would go a long ways towards getting the necessary focus
upon Venus. Of course, I'd love being the one and only alpha dog or
whatever infidel in charge of everything, but then unlike yourself, I
don't know everything under the sun, so I'd have to keep asking those
pesky questions, or else having to rely upon others for doing their
job, of contributing whatever wizardly expertise they might represent.

Clearly you have no such personal expertise under your belt, and
you're also a fairly old Jewish fart at that. But, without hardly any
effort, yourself and others of your kind could just as easily get
others interested in this quest, by way of simply suggesting there is
an actual light at the end of this tunnel worth going for.

Obviously the mostly Jewish mainstream status quo is not a very happy
camper these days, but then not much of anything made their Hitler and
the likes of their resident LLPOF warlord(GW Bush) a happy camper,
especially as long as those pesky Muslims were sitting on all of that
oil.

Too bad that VL2 simply isn't as worthy of being as perpetrated cold-
war cloak and dagger worthy.

certainly isn't a happy camper, especially as long as those pesky

Too bad that VL2 simply isn't worthy of that location ever becoming as
our perpetrated cold-war and cloak and dagger stuff, as if it were
we'd be right there as of decades ago.

Fair one.

Crayons and wax paper. (we may have to just bear the risk of paper cuts)

Why don't you folks stick with pretending at being such born-again
idiots. Otherwise, isn't your being such brown-nosed clowns getting
somewhat old?

Strange grammar there. Did you go to school?

Drop the bigotry, loon.

What "bigotry"?. Remember that I'm apparently the one and only good
and honest guy within this entire Usenet cesspool of yours.

Apparently the whole truth and nothing but the truth, as based upon
the best available science that working within the regular laws of
physics, is what you folks call "bigotry". Sorry about that, I
honestly didn't know that being a born-again liar was such a Usenet
requirement.
