an honest 140,,,

At least there's no chromatic "abhoration"... maybe just a
couple of G's.

not so sure of the chromatic "abhoration": here it is in
color....

Again this was taken way back when: maybe in late '99. It was
before the aero kit and the rear quarter panel airscoops were
installed.....

OT indeed.....

OT even worse...

My previous hot rod (Mustang with a *few* modifications) could do that (and
slightly more - like 145) in fourth gear with no problems, and with another
gear to go... My current Dodge Dakota with a few *mods* is fast, too, but
not up to the Mustang... Makes all the same noises and sensations (well not
like the late sixties top fueler at ALL, but still fun), but for sure not as
fast...

Of course, I've seen 236+ on certified Chrondek timers in another vehicle
long ago (and backed up with another run within the required 2%), so even
THAT's not really fast...

hey, don't sweat it, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

have you ever noticed that when someone is in front of you driving slower
than you want to drive that they are a moron and when someone comes blasting
past you like a bat out of hell that they are an idiot and the fellow that
drives alongside you at the same speed is a fool. so go figure....

I had a '86 928S that I had bored and stroked to take it to 6.5L versus 5.0L
stock

I have a similar "gauge shot" showing it pegged at 172mph. I verified via
GPS too.

I need to find that pic. Here are the pair:

On the upside, there's nothing in those pictures that indicates you weren't
on a track.

Actually, no. That's why I'm able to ride this safely every day, even though
there are guys like you out there. ;-)

Best wishes, and drive safe.
-Steve P.
(And no, I don't equate speed with safety. Some people can drive safe at any
speed, others can't. Unfortunately, the others are the one's that'll kill
ya.)

I'm with you on that. In my daily drive up and down Interstate 880 running
between Oakland and San Jose, I see many people that have no business on the
road. I know how to drive well and at high speed but seldom do so. If the
road is completely empty as this one was, I have been known to get on it a
few times in my life. That pic was taken in early 2000 and the last time I
was over 100mph was in 2001.

I've spent a lot of time on tracks too....

looks good, looks fast. Red is always good for another 10mph: at least
that's what the cop with the radar gun thinks :-)

You don't need that to do 140mph. I did 140mph in a rented Renault
Laguna.

Nope, only the ones slower than me are arseholes. Faster ones only
make me jealous.
