Default 7.5Lb counterweight slipped, Big right toe broke

Let me tell ya, when it's 3 AM, dark and quiet, your're all alone & dead-ass
tired and calling it a night after being up for 15-20 hrs, your breaking
down a complicated setup, it's easy as hell to make a mistake, usually a
costly one...

I have the same safety cap, which was removed as I was taking the

weights
off at the time, 3 of them,
1st two in my hands, and as I was setting them down, 3rd one gave way ,

and
the rest is history...

Didn't you lock the dec axis horizontal or even tipped up slightly? I
use lots of small weights from a weightlifting kit. Much easier to use
than the usual heavier ones. Particularly when wet with dew or
slippery with ice. The formed shape is also safer to handle than the
usual flat sided cylinders.
You can't expect weights to stay in place on a sloping shaft. Just
'weighting' to fall off. g
