The book is excellent. I don't recommend the software, however. First,
because it is a bit clunky- it doesn't have a very good user interface.
No scripting, no toolbars, not much that is customizable, erratic about
what settings it does and doesn't remember. Much more serious, it uses
an obnoxious activation scheme that leaves you forever at the mercy of
the publisher to authorize reinstallations.

If you are looking for a good textbook on image processing, get it (and
install the software, or not, as you choose). If you are looking for a
primary image processing tool, I'd look elsewhere.

Excellent book, slightly clunky but very capable software.
Definitely recommended.
